概要	This paper reports on an investigation of how learner autonomy could be fostered through the integration of online system and traditional face-to-face English writing class. Furthermore, the paper proposes cognitive design strategies for English writing courses that seek to promote learner autonomy in Japan. The cognitive psychological techniques were implemented in two dimensions online in the form of weekly paragraph writing and discussion forum assignments given to 203 of Japanese University students over a fifteen-week semester.
