A visualization study of flow-induced vibration in the tandem branches system has been carried out using a high time-resolved PIV (Particle Imaging Velocimetry) technique. The main objective of this study is to visualize the fluid flow two-dimensionally in the first and second branch cross sections using the PIV technique. The time-averaged velocity of the flow field, horizontal component of the detected velocity vector fluctuations, and dominant frequencies of those velocity fluctuations by FFT-analysis at different points as well as the pressure distributions at the side and end of the cavity are presented. © 2010 by Begell House, Inc. |
