概要 In drilling of Ti6A14V stacked CFRP, the chip flow should be controlled to finish the hole without any damages on the surface of the CFRP layer. A step drill is applied to drilling of Ti6A1 V stacked CFRP for improvement of surface finish and reduction in production time. The chip flow angle is predicted with the cutting force in simulation, in which the chip flow angle is determined to minimize the cutting energy. The chip flow angle on the end of the lips, which finish the surface in the hole, is predicted with changing the diameter of the pre-machined hole and the wedge angle of the step edge. The geometry of the step drill is determined to flow the cutting chip of Ti6A14V upward based on the cutting simulation. The designed step drills verified to finish scratch-free surfaces inside of the holes.
