概要 The linear instability of the boundary layer flow formed along an archery arrow with a small angle of attack
γ is investigated based on the parallel flow approximation. The basic flow field is computed numerically
at Reynolds numbers Re = 1.5 × 104 and 2.0 × 104 (using the arrow shaft diameter as a representative
length). Two types (bulge and streamlined) of point are considered. When a streamlined point is attached,
the numerically obtained flow is stationary for γ ≤ 0.7◦ and γ ≤ 0.6◦ at Re = 1.5 × 104 and 2.0 × 104,
respectively. In contrast, stationary flow is found only for γ ≤ 0.3◦ at Re = 1.5 × 104, if a bulge point is
attached. The basic flow with both points becomes more stable as γ is increased in the range γ ≤ 0.3◦. In
the case of the streamlined point, new instability modes are found downstream, as γ increases more than
0.5◦.
